Why are far-right efforts to undermine public education so dangerous?
This isn’t a new playbook. The organized effort to take over public schools mirrors the successful two decade effort by conservatives to dominate state legislatures — limiting freedoms of millions of Americans in the process. If left unchecked, this movement risks widespread indoctrination of young people, promoting ideologies that jeopardize American Democracy.
Conservative groups had a wildly successful 2022 and 2023 – recruiting and supporting hundreds of far-right school board candidates in more than 25 states — winning 40% of their elections in 2023.
What can we do?
EDUCATED WE STAND is launching a national, non-partisan organization dedicated to safeguarding the integrity of public education. Its mission is to limit the influence of farright extremists and maintain evidence-based learning environments that foster critical thinking and prepare students to be engaged, informed citizens.
